What was your first job?
Other than working on the farm it was Assistant engineer for an educational TV station.
Tell us a little bit about yourself:
Growing up I lived on a dairy farm in central Minnesota. After graduation from high school, I went to Wadena Technical College for electronics engineering and obtained my 1st class FCC engineers license. I worked for corporate Motorola as a field service engineer for seven years and then started my owned Motorola sales and service dealership. Around this time, I became a licensed EMT and worked for two local ambulance services. Later, I became an EMT-I and was part of the 1stALS (Advanced Life Support), a locally staffed mobile intensive care ambulance in North Western Wisconsin. I worked as a volunteer EMT for 30 years, and as an EMS instructor for 8 years. Later, I started working part-time at Chisago County as a 911 dispatcher which then became a full time IT position. After about two years the county decided it needed a full time IT department, which allowed me to become the IT director for Chisago County. I have been at Chisago county for 28 years, now the department is made up of 5 divisions:
- Data/Records retention
- ARMER Radio and E-911
- Facilities and Custodial
